Child Abuse Prevention Month
Lighting the Mansion in Blue ~ Wednesday, April 12
In addition to being National Volunteer Month, April is also National Child Abuse Prevention month! National Child Abuse Prevention Month recognizes the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect.
Children’s Advocacy Centers of Mississippi (CACM) is hosting a child abuse prevention event in partnership with Mississippi Child Protection Services on April 12th. They will be placing pinwheels on the lawn of the Governor’s Mansion and lighting the Mansion in Blue. Pinwheels symbolize the whimsy and childlike notions. Pinwheels have become a reminder for the great childhoods we want for all children.
CACM’s twelve member child advocacy centers served 8,837 children last year who were victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, witnessed a violent crime, or were trafficked.
The hope for this event is it serves as a reminder of how it takes everyone in the community to keep children safe from abuse.#ChildAbusePreventionMonth#WearBlue#alliancems
