Candid - GuideStar/Foundation Center
Candid is the result of a merger of GuideStar and The Foundation Center. The combined repositories of information about nonprofits and funders provide a powerful source for research and information. The partnership with the Alliance continues to develop, adding resources for members each year. These currently include:
- The Local GuideStar Directory, providing subscription-level access for members to GuideStar profiles for all nonprofits in the State of Mississippi.
- Training and coaching for nonprofits about updating their GuideStar profiles to maximize visibility to prospective donors and funders on a wide variety of online giving platforms.
- Custom research services from both GuideStar and the Foundation Directory Online.
- Coming soon, the Alliance will become a FIN (Funding Information Network) Training site.

Volunteer Mississippi’s mission is to engage and support Mississippians of all ages and backgrounds in service to their communities. Established in 1994 as the Mississippi Commission for Volunteer Service (MCVS), Volunteer Mississippi has worked to encourage a culture of citizenship, service and responsibility to America. In partnership with the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), MS Institutions of Higher Learning, MS Department of Education, MS Center for Nonprofits, faith-based and community organizations statewide, Volunteer MS is fostering community engagement and building volunteer capacity throughout the state.
Building on its motto, Ad Excellentiam, its strong heritage of social justice, freedom of thought, and reflection on life’s most important questions, and its central location in the capital city of Mississippi, Millsaps engages students in a transformative learning and leadership experience that results in personal and intellectual growth, commitment to good citizenship in our global society, and a desire to succeed and make a difference in every community they touch.
Mississippi State University Social Science Research Center (SSRC)
