First, a message from your executive director…

A warm hello to our esteemed members and friends.  This edition of The Ally seeks to celebrate the rich tapestry that February brings by recognizing Black History Month and other notable events that shape this dynamic month.

In honoring Black history, we pay tribute to the remarkable contributions and achievements of Black Americans throughout history and our newsletter features stories to showcase the impact of our very own leaders and changemakers within the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors.  By highlighting these narratives, we aim to inspire and foster a deeper understanding of the diverse perspectives that enrich our state.

Additionally, we are mindful of other significant events, including World Day of Social Justice where we are reminded that everyone deserves access to equal and equitable opportunities.  Again, reminding us of the power of collective action, the importance of philanthropy and the ongoing work toward creating a more just and equitable world.

February is also renowned for Valentine’s Day.  And while we celebrate love, let’s call attention to a very important heart matter,  American Heart Month. Although National Wear Red Day has passed, we should continue to raise awareness about heart health and the prevention of cardiovascular disease in women by promoting and adopting healthy lifestyle habits.

Thank you for being a vital part of the Mississippi Alliance of Nonprofits and Philanthropy.  We look forward to an inspiring month of learning, collaboration, and purpose!

With gratitude,

Ellen
