Membership Benefits
The mission of the Mississippi Alliance of Nonprofits and Philanthropy is to serve, build the capacity of, and foster collaboration between Mississippi's nonprofit and philanthropic communities. By providing high-quality training, technical assistance, and resources to our members, we help organizations improve the health and well-being of individuals, children, and families, and support the advancement of positive social and economic conditions within communities across Mississippi.
Our goal is to strengthen our members ability to make transformative change in the communities they serve. Through ongoing collaboration with national organizations serving the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors, we continually strive to expand the range of programs, services, and discounts offered to our member network.
In addition to discounts on training opportunities and regular updates on the latest news, Alliance members have access to a range of benefits to help them successfully achieve their goals and fulfill their missions. Our member benefits currently include:
GuideStar, a program of Candid, is the largest repository of information about nonprofits in the world. GuideStar's website is available to everyone free of charge. All nonprofit and philanthropic organizations known to the IRS have a public profile on GuideStar, which can be claimed by each organization and customized, providing better information to prospective donors and funders, as well as the general public. The Alliance's multi-faceted partnership with Candid continues to evolve. Here's what's available today for Alliance members:
- The Alliance serves as the local GuideStar directory for the entire state of Mississippi – the country's first statewide directory providing members with premium-level access to information contained in GuideStar's database through a live connection directly to GuideStar.
- As a benefit of membership, Alliance members can search this repository to facilitate collaboration between organizations with similar aims.
- All Alliance members have access to training on how to improve their GuideStar profile, which has been shown to correlate to increased donor visibility and individual contributions, as well as increased visibility to potential funding sources.
- Philanthropic members of the Alliance can access the full range of GuideStar data on any of the 14,000 active nonprofits located in Mississippi (as well as information about nonprofit organizations that are no longer active or recognized by the IRS as tax-exempt).
- Based on the complexity of the research, custom data research is available through the Alliance at a fee. For assistance with any of your research needs, please contact the programming team at training@alliancems.org.
