We focus our work on fundraising and fund development – partnering with the executive director, board chair and board members, staff, and fundraising volunteers. We value open and honest communication and building a team. We believe fundraising must be a team effort – no one person can do it on their own.

We will help you build a team that is accountable and transparent and actively raising funds. We have always worked with organizations by phone, email, and video conference – and are continuing to do so. Our primary services include: creating the case for support; fundraising feasibility studies; fundraising plans; board orientation and fundraising support; and coaching for team members at all levels. We conduct workshops and also provide executive coaching. Please call us to learn more – we personally answer the phone!

Biography

Biography

Pearl D. Shaw is the president and co-founder of Saad&Shaw. Her experience contains both private sector business development and nonprofit fundraising. Pearl helps nonprofits, including grassroots organizations, professional associations, and educational institutions to both raise funds and increase their fundraising capacity and infrastructure. She has worked directly with college and university presidents, trustees, and executives for the past 17 years, providing guidance and coaching in the areas of campaign planning and case for support development. Her goal is to meet clients where they are, to build on their strengths, and custom-design reports and plans that help them address their specific challenges, without using a “cookie-cutter” approach. Saad&Shaw’s approach focuses on building volunteer-led fundraising teams that are supported and guided by nonprofit staff members.

Prior to Saad&Shaw Pearl served as principal of Phrased Write, providing proposal writing, foundation research, and executive coaching to nonprofit organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area. A certified fundraising executive (CFRE), Pearl writes the weekly column FUNdraising Good Times, which provides readers across the country with suggestions and tips to help build strong nonprofits that serve their communities; and has co-authored The Fundraiser’s Guide to Soliciting Gifts and Prerequisites for Fundraising Success. She holds a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master of Public Administration degree from California State University East Bay. She serves on the board of the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation.
