George Stewart II is an educator, nonprofit leader, and president of the largest local educator association in Mississippi, representing over 700 member educators in the city of Jackson. He has years of knowledge and experience in leading nonprofit boards, organizing, and policy advocacy.

George’s mission is to utilize his knowledge, resources, and experiences in an effort that leads to a better quality of life for those he serves.

Invited to the White House to participate in "Communities in Action: Building a Better America"



Led advocacy efforts for the largest educator pay raise in Mississippi history

Elected president of the largest local educator association in Mississippi

Contributing facilitator for the Jackson Association of Educators Early Leadership Institute

Led the launch and execution of the “Safe Water for Jackson” organizing campaign

Advocacy gained national attention on the impact the Jackson water crisis had on Jackson schools

Advocated for a public health bill introduced in the Mississippi House of Representatives during the 2021 Legislative Session (HB 618)

Partnered with a state legislator to draft an education bill that was introduced in the Mississippi House of Representatives during the 2020 legislative session (HB 490)

Secured thousands of dollars in grant funding to support organizing initiatives

Fundraising to support for more parent-to-parent support and case manager training

Development coordinator in partnership with the Kellogg Foundation providing support to families of Jackson Public Schools students with IDEA rulings
